If you've met me or have read anything I've ever written or follow me on any social platform or have ever even glanced in my general direction, you know I'm a die-hard "Gilmore Girls" fan. I've essentially had the show going on a constant loop since I was 15. So, of course, when I saw Rachel Antonoff's brilliant "I'm With Lorelai" shirt, I had to have it, especially with the revival coming up this week (!!!!!!!!!). The only problem is, so did everyone else. Just as I was proceeding through the checkout — which couldn't have been more than a few hours after it went live on Antonoff's site — it sold out. (There's also an "I'm With Rory" tee which also sold out, though not quite as rapidly — possibly because Rory is sometimes regarded as a major drag, sorrynotsorry.)
The shirt's inherent wonderfulness is only enhanced by the fact that it's modeled by Mae Whitman, Antonoff's longtime friend who starred in "Parenthood" alongside Lauren Graham; Whitman is also a major "Gilmore" fan and reportedly makes a cameo in the new Netflix reboot. I've reached out to the company to see if there are any plans for a re-stock and will keep you posted on that news, at least after I secure one for myself, in appropriately selfish Lorelai fashion.
In the meantime, I'll be over here, repurposing the opening line from the pilot episode of the series: Please, Rachel. Please, please, please.
UPDATE, Nov. 22: Rachel Antonoff has confirmed that shoppers will be able to pre-order the re-stock of these shirts later in the day on Tuesday.
Rachel Antonoff "I'm With Lorelai" Tee, $45, available at Rachel Antonoff (currently sold out).
