Hey, Fashionista! It's Whitney.

I'm ready to talk your ear off about ethical manufacturing and a whole lot more.

I've been lurking around this little spot on the internet for years now, first as a reader and then as a freelance writer, with a propensity for talking about DIY patched denim, ethical fashion and the similarities between New York Fashion Week and Burning Man. So it feels pretty natural — and exciting — for me to announce that I have officially joined Team Fashionista.

In the past, I've written about fashion for the Washington Post, the New York Times, Billboard and the Hollywood Reporter. I got my start by blogging about the overlap between fashion and religion, and I'm particularly passionate about ethical manufacturing, so don't be surprised if I write about those things every chance I get. Thrifting, gender theory and fangirling over Cool Teens™ are all fair game, too.

In my pre-New York life, I was an art student and theater nerd in Manila where I grew up, before continuing to be both of those things in college outside Chicago. The easiest way into my heart is to buy me a book, Ample Hills ice cream or a ticket back to the Philippines.

Feel free to drop me a line on Twitter or Instagram if you're the social type, and thanks for welcoming me to the Fashionista fam!
