Kate Spade reportedly in talks to sell company
The New York-based brand is allegedly considering a sale of the company after hedge fund and activist investor Caerus Investors sent the brand's chairman a letter advocating for the move amid concerns that Kate Spade has been "underperforming its peers" and depreciating in stock value. The company declined comment to WWD, stating that "as a company policy, we do not comment on industry rumors or speculation." {WWD}

Gwyneth Paltrow covers InStyle's February issue
For the latest issue of InStyle, the actress, clad in a pink Fendi sweater-and-skirt combo, is coming clean about her oft-scrutinized beauty, health and wellness habits — and sharing some poignant bon mots on the topic of aging. "When I turned 40, I felt like I got this free software upgrade that I wasn’t expecting. It just happened. Suddenly I was like, 'Oh, this is fantastic: I don't care! I like myself, and I'm just going to live my life. I'm going to stop worrying and tearing myself down." {InStyle}

LVMH loses lawsuit against My Other Bag
After the luxury conglomerate accused spoof accessories brand My Other Bag of trademark dilution, violation of fair use and copyright infringement (among other allegations) of the Louis Vuitton logo and design in January of this year, the United States court of appeals for the Second Circuit has, as of this week, officially denied an appeal from LVMH. The judgement maintained that while "at the same time that they mimic Louis Vuitton's designs and handbags in a way that is recognizable, they do so as a drawing on a product that is such a conscious departure from Louis Vuitton's image of luxury—in combination with the slogan "My other bag"— as to convey that My Other Bag's tote bags are not Louis Vuitton handbags." {WWD}
