Whether you're flying the fangirl flag for Kanye West or Justin Bieber, Queen Bey or Rihanna — or all of them at once — 2016 was the year that concert tees officially became a fashion statement again. Following in the footsteps of Yeezy, who pioneered the now-ubiquitous pop-up model, major artists are using statement-making merch (released for a limited time only to create maximum hype) to promote their music and personal brands. (We even made some ourselves!)
Fans lined up in droves around the world, thirsty for a chance to get their hands on a piece of their favorite artist; in many cases, the elaborately staged, temporary stores elevated the products to art. Thanks to some of the biggest names in the entertainment game, it wasn't long before concert tees and hoodies became a street-style staple, even among the most prim and polished fashion folks.
