Opening Ceremony Has Some Pretty Crazy (and Expensive) Gift Ideas This Holiday Season
There's a rising trend and preference for gifting "experiences" over material things, and this holiday season, Opening Ceremony founders Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have some pretty crazy offerings. Always the creative duo to think outside the box — Opening Ceremony's pageant-style NYFW show, Kenzo's fragrance music video and musical runway show for H&M, for example — Lim and Leon are putting their culinary skills up for purchase as a holiday present. For a cool $5,000 (we did say it's crazy), the two will cook up some tasty Asian dishes for a group of four in one's very own home in New York City.
The one-of-a-kind experience is part of Opening Ceremony's festive gift guide called "CrazyCozyCool." In addition to a pricey home-cooked meal, shoppers can also choose from a live reading with "Hollywood Medium" Tyler Henry ($7,000, or a via Skype for just $1,500), a custom piece by Leon, along with two fittings, for $10,000 and a "luxurious red wine bath experience" for $1,500 that comes with massages, aromatherapy and Opening Ceremony embroidered robes. (How about treating yourself with the last one?)
There's also an auction for a lunch date with Jonah Hill and Spike Jonze with bids starting at $5,500, all of which goes towards the nonprofit 826NYC. The lucky winner, however, is "forbidden from pitching business opportunities or requesting business contacts during the event." So, like, maybe geek out with Hill about Palace or "This Is the End" or something?

Of course, none of these gifts are refundable. So if you really want to test your level of crazy, here's the perfect opportunity. Then perhaps invite us over for dinner? 'Tis the season, after all.
