I've been a fan of Pixi's Glow Tonic for a few years for its gentle exfoliating and brightening properties, but given the formula's relatively low 5 percent glycolic acid concentration, there are times when it had me wishing for a more intense treatment. And apparently I wasn't the only one, because one of the brand's latest launches, Pixi Glow Peel Pads, features an impressive 20 percent glycolic formula. It's not for those with super-sensitive skin, but for anyone with a resilient complexion in need of major buffing, brightening and clarifying, it's a majorly effective treatment. Glycolic acid, a type of alpha-hydroxy acid, is often regarded as a bit of a miracle ingredient amongst dermatologists, because in addition to acting as an intense non-physical exfoliant to help skin shed dulling dead skin cells, it can also help to ward off the first signs of fine lines and photodamage.

These pads pack that hero ingredient into a convenient delivery system, along with a soothing and moisturizing cocktail of glycerin, vitamin E, aloe vera and rose water to  coddle skin and prevent irritation. And if sun damage is a main concern, licorice root offers an extra punch of brightening power to help ward off dark spots

After a lapse in my spironolactone prescription (that's my number-one skin necessity, if you're wondering), I've spent the past month or so coping with a constant smattering of blemishes and the pesky spots they leave behind even once they subside. Ugh. And while I'm still on the road to full-on skin recovery, these pads have been a helpful tool in my complexion-perfecting attack plan.
