I need to stop being so damn picky when it comes to finding a great pair of black boots. A pair I have from Topshop, which are going on its fifth year in my possession, have finally been resoled and cleaned up, so I could spare myself from finding a replacement. Chances are I wouldn't be able to, anyway.
But those black boots have a fairly low heel, and I've been on the hunt for a tall pair with a skinny ankle that reaches higher on my shin. The last detail is something that's been hard to find. When I do find a suitably high pair, they're often too loose around the ankle and end up looking bulky when I wear them with my cropped vintage Levi's. This boot from Vince Camuto, however, might be the one to end my search. The reviews are good, the style is slightly narrow (good for my narrow feet) and its heel juts out slightly from the ankle, which almost resembles a sock. (Read: Not loose and bulky!)
And with Nordstrom's huge discount — whoa, 50 percent off — I should probably make a move on these boots before it's too late. Consider this my "treat yourself" purchase before I continue with my holiday gift shopping list.
Vince "Calista" Block Heel Bootie, $224.98 (was $450), available at Nordstrom.
