My personal style can best be described as "jeans and some black top or something." (I'm a beauty editor, sue me!) So when I realized there was a super-simple, inexpensive way to upgrade any blah, denim-and-black based look — namely: to cover my usually bare ankles with fishnet socks and call it a day — I was fully on board. Sure, it's trendy and Instagirl-y, so if you pride yourself on being too cool for such things, you're welcome to stop reading now. But if you're all about finding lazy, insanely easy ways to transform a look into a lewk, I'd suggest picking up a pair.

The exact fishnet socks I bought a couple of months ago appear to have sold out (it seems I'm not the only one to have discovered this easy styling trick), but Asos still has several other styles to choose from. My favorites are these classic ankle socks, which also happen to be a serious steal at just $8 for a two-pack. Whether you pair them with loafers, sneakers or some sort of lace-up heel, they're pretty much foolproof, even for a fashion-clueless person like myself.
