Because the Golden Globes kick off awards season, they tend to set the tone for the red carpet trends to come — and if Sunday night's looks were any indication, things are finally getting interesting again.
Moving away from the bodycon and nude trends that dominated the past few seasons, women shook things up at the 74th annual Golden Globes. They either reached for the sparkliest gowns they could find — a la Ruth Negga in a custom Louis Vuitton gown by Nicolas Ghesquière — or eschewed dresses altogether for some seriously sexy suiting. (Fist bump to Evan Rachel Wood, in a "Victor Victoria" and David Bowie-inspired Altuzarra getup, for saying, "I want every girl to know they can wear a suit.") Pink was the color of the night — seen on Emma Stone, Claire Foy, Zoe Saldana and Felicity Jones, just to name a few — but Brie Larson's scorching red dress was another major standout.
But no matter what trend these ladies opted for, they all had one thing in common: they killed it on the Golden Globes red carpet. See our picks for best dressed women of the night in the gallery below.
