Ivanka Trump is resigning from all officer and director positions at her eponymous label to focus more exclusively on politics, reports Vanity Fair. The move is matched by actions from her husband Jared Kushner, who is stepping away from his real-estate business and role at The New York Observer, and seems to indicate a desire to comply with the ethics laws that will come into place when the couple takes up residence — and significant roles — in the Trump administration's White House.

Ivanka first began distancing herself from her label in November after coming under fire for promoting a $10,800 18-karat gold bracelet from her line following the family's first "60 Minutes" appearance post-election. The company published an open letter that claimed, "Our company’s mission is not political — it never was and it never will be — however, Ivanka, personally, has an increased opportunity... As a private citizen, with full awareness of her heightened visibility, she will broaden her efforts to take a stance on issues of critical importance to American women and families."

In addition to breaking ties with her namesake brand, Ivanka will also step down from her roles within the Trump Organization. "These steps are consistent with federal law and executive branch practice," Kushner's attorney stated in a release obtained by Vanity Fair
