When the winter rolls around, I'm always stuck in this style conundrum of my coats never being warm enough. It's probably because some of my winter coats aren't in the best shape — one of them literally lets all of the cold air seep through the sleeves — but I continue to torture myself by wearing them anyway.
I received this Uniqlo down jacket at a press preview sometime last year and it sat in my closet for months without even being opened. But on a particularly freezing morning, I decided to add it as an extra layer underneath my outerwear for the day. My drafty coat was suddenly cozy and toasty and I walked from my apartment to my subway stop without feeling like I was experiencing hypothermia. Plus, for being so warm, the puffer jacket is actually super-thin and lightweight, so I don't look like an extra from "The Revenant" when it's zipped up under my coat.
I've also done away with wearing a scarf because the jacket's collar keeps my neck nicely covered when it gets chilly, too. But if the high-collar version doesn't suit you, there's a vest version and even a collarless coat one to get you through the winter instead. Stay warm out there!
