Here we go: On Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 5 p.m, West will unveil his latest collection in partnership with Adidas. Fortunately, he's keeping things local for industry showgoers this time around. Instead of Madison Square Garden or Roosevelt Island, the show will take place at popular NYFW presentation venue Pier 59 Studios, which is conveniently within walking distance from Milk Studios, but also a huge pain in the ass when it comes to hailing a cab.
Yeezy shares a show time slot with Assembly and Marchesa, and is just before Thom Browne's show at 6 p.m. And if West continues to street-cast his show models like in previous seasons, we expect the rapper/designer to touch down in New York City very soon. In the meantime, we'll keep a close eye on his Instagram for any hints regarding the new collection.
UPDATE, Feb. 2, 2017, 9:30 p.m.: After CFDA CEO Steven Kolb expressed frustration towards West and his impulsively planned show time during New York Fashion Week, WWD reports that West has decided to reschedule his Yeezy Season 5 debut two hours earlier at 3 p.m. Its planned location still remains and there are no other conflicting shows currently scheduled — aside from the possibility of late arrivals to Anna Sui at 4 p.m.
"Kanye called me personally to let me know that he had no intention of showing on top of another designer, and was unaware that there was a conflict. He explained that once he realized Marchesa was in the time slot, he immediately looked at alternative options," said Kolb in a statement to WWD.
Yeezy Season 5 still appears to be excluded from the CFDA's official New York Fashion Week calendar for this coming season. Adds Kolb, "The CFDA appreciates Kanye's outreach and effort, and we look forward to working with him far in advance to integrate Yeezy into the schedule in seasons to come."
