The unofficial motto at Fashionista.com is "Never Log Off." If you do, Kendall Jenner might Do A Thing or a designer might suddenly exit a fashion house or some buzzy millennial/celebrity offspring might unveil his or her first ad campaign via Instagram. News can break at any moment, and it is my job to be on it.
Needless to say, I spend far too much time plugged in: The first thing I do when I wake up is check Twitter, Instagram and various media outlets for updates, which is often the last thing I do before going to sleep, too. (I don't sleep much these days.) Most of the hours in between are spent behind my computer screen, both making and consuming glorious content. I am aware that this isn't normal or healthy per se, but it's my life, and I have come to terms with it. In fact, the internet has Stockholm Syndrome-d me a bit, and I sort of love it! Nothing can brighten your day like a meme, right? (Maybe except for actual human contact or feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin, but I digress.)
In my Friday morning web search, I learned that Balenciaga just relaunched its e-commerce site, and while browsing the goods, I found something that I desperately want: a jacquard knit top that's striped with a Balenciaga URL. I already feel like I am one with the internet, and this sweater would help me share that message with the world. That is, unless the fact that I'm basically surgically attached to either my phone or a keyboard at all times doesn't do that for me already.
As much as I need this in my life, the reality is that I cannot currently afford it — mostly because I write about fashion on the internet. How's that for irony? Lmao.
Balenciaga Http crewneck, $755, available at Balenciaga.
