In January, designer Demna Gvasalia sent a collection down Balenciaga's Fall 2017 menswear runway that was full of references to Bernie Sanders's presidential campaign, splashing a riff on his logo across scarves, hoodies, bomber jackets and, yes, nail art. Of course, we wondered what Sanders would think of his new status as luxury fashion inspiration, but we figured he had enough things going on to try and take care of to chat about the Paris runways.
Thankfully, one intrepid CNN reporter asked for us. When Sanders appeared on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday, Jake Tapper inquired whether the Senator ever thought of himself as being a fashion icon. (Although, dude, frivolous? Not cool, Tapper. You didn't even pronounce "Balenciaga" right!) Sanders seems appropriately tickled, even if he doesn't quite agree with the appraisal. Watch the clip above.
