I won't go into the specifics right now because that's a different story for a different occasion, but suffice it to say there are plenty of people out there who are sketched out by traditional antiperspirants, which usually contain aluminum-based complexes to prevent moisture from escaping from sweat glands. So over the past several years, beauty companies have made an effort to concoct aluminum-free formulas that still stop wetness and odor effectively. And some have been much more successful in this realm than others. (I know; as someone who is at times sketched out by aluminum-based products, I've tried plenty of them.)
Enter Boscia's new version, a mist-on powder that relies on the absorbent properties of charcoal and silica to sop up moisture and lavender oil to gently yet pleasantly cancel out any less-pleasant odors. It's a completely dry black powder that mists out of the non-aerosol pump bottle in a murky cloud — you can watch the video below — but then becomes instantly translucent on skin. (And don't worry, it won't leave any black gunk on your clothes, either.) It's worth noting that though it's a dry powder, the deodorant is completely talc-free, because if you're sketched out by aluminum, you're probably doubly so by talc.
I've been using this deodorant for several weeks now (full disclosure: the brand sent it to me when it launched), and I'm obsessed. Sure, I've only used it in the winter — in the summer and for workouts I'll still turn to a traditional antiperspirant formulas, baby steps! — but Boscia's has proven one of the most effective natural deodorants I've ever tried.
Thus concludes today's session of Stephanie Talks About Sweat, congratulations on making it through!
