In New York, politics were clearly at the front of just about every designer's mind, with the runways featuring everything from subtle nods to full-out statements towards the current climate. In Europe, though, those statements have been largely absent, especially in Milan.

On Saturday, Missoni of all labels was the one to change that. Walking into the venue, every staff member — from security to PR — was wearing Business of Fashion's #TiedTogether handkerchiefs. Every seat inside had a pink knit hat in the same style of those worn at the Women's Marches in January. Largely, the runway was a typical Missoni outing: Slinky knits, chevron patterns and lots of layering. The final three looks were different: Oversize white sweaters were emblazoned with a pink triangle, a pink "Woman" symbol or two pink ornamentations over the breast. The models took their finale walk wearing the same pink hats left on the seats.

In lieu of a runway bow, Angela Missoni came out with a microphone, holding the audience. "There is a bond between us that will keep us strong and safe," she said. "The bond that unites all those who respect human rights." She then invited everyone to join her and the models behind her — including Gigi Hadid — on stage as a show of unity.

"Let's show the world that the fashion community is united and fearless!" Missoni finished. It was a heartfelt, happy moment that proved the international fashion world is paying attention, too. Beautiful clothes are great, but moments like these make them all the lovelier.
