In New York, the air was chilly and the mood was strong, yet somber. No matter what your thoughts are on trends in fashion (has social media rendered trends irrelevant? Is the steady decay of binary seasons the death knell of the "trend"? Is "trend" now a four letter word?), designers were almost all on the same page. While some may believe fashion is only skin deep, others would likely point out that it changes with the times, and Fall 2017 saw many New York designers adapting to the current political climate in a variety of ways — some sought solace in fantasy, some sought to destroy clothing in frustration, while others were more overt with their words (or soundtracks). Do we think trends are still relevant? Hell yes, we do.
