Despite having kept quiet on social media in the months following her Paris robbery last season, Kim Kardashian West was out in full force to support her husband's Fall 2017 runway show — Yeezy Season 5 — as part of New York Fashion Week on Wednesday. She wore a head-to-toe aubergine look that included high-waisted pants, pointy-toed, lace-up heels, an oversize coat and a sheer top that kept things sexy. Paired with her predictably flawless makeup and shiny Disney princess hair, Kardashian looked like the very polished human version of the eggplant emoji, as users were observing on Twitter.
Surprisingly, Kardashian was not joined by the entire Kardashian-Jenner-West lineage in coordinated garb, as has been the case in past seasons. Kylie Jenner, the lone exception, was there in jeans and glossy hair extensions of her own next to boyfriend Tyga, while Hailey Baldwin showed up in an oversize blush sweatshirt and choker. Pusha T, A$AP Ferg and photographer Steven Klein — along with his baby — also sat front row.
The less-blingy-than-past-seasons looks on Kim & Co. might have been unexpected, but they seemed to reflect some elements of Yeezy Season 5 that showgoers were most excited about: the ability to forego spectacle while still delivering a product.
