I should preface this post by saying that I seem to have... unique taste when it comes to brow-grooming gels. There's one brand (which shall remain nameless) that makes one so popular it generated a waitlist and shows up in your Instagram feed roughly once every seven minutes. You know the one. Everyone loves it. Everyone, that is, but me.
Let me tell you what I'm looking for in an ideal brow gel. It should, most importantly, hold brow hairs in place — but in a way that looks human, not Ken-doll-like. It should deposit a hint of color to help any sparse patches blend in, but it definitely shouldn't be opaque or flat, like you're just painting on chocolate frosting (that's my main gripe with the aforementioned super-popular brow gel). It shouldn't be strangely shiny or glittery. And it should be easy to apply.
I've found all of those attributes in Dior's version. Every time I try another product, I always come back to this one. (I use Brown, but there's also a lighter option for blondes and a completely clear one.) In addition to checking every single one of the above boxes, it also has a genius applicator — stiff plastic bristles that look vaguely cactus-like — that allows you to define and shape brows without worrying about clumpy, gunky pigment distribution.
And while $29 is obviously on the pricier side for such a product, I swear this stuff is like the Mary Poppins bag of brow gels, with a seemingly endless supply of formula. I've been using a single tube nearly every single day for at least a year. HOW?
Dior Diorshow Brow Gel, $29, available at Sephora.
