It's not uncommon for a major model to go from posing in front of the camera to working behind it; recent examples include Kendall Jenner's Love editorials and Bella Hadid's Chrome Hearts campaign. And as of Friday, Gigi Hadid became the newest Instagirl to go behind the lens and take on the role of photographer, shooting none other than boyfriend Zayn Malik in a new Versus Versace campaign.
The label announced the news in a blurry, stylized Instagram video posted on Friday morning, teasing the upcoming Spring 2017 campaign which will star Malik and model Adwoa Aboah. Though the exact campaign launch date remains unknown, the post assures that it's "Coming Soon" (and will be associated with the hashtag #VersusUncensored).
In the 10-second long clip that was filmed back on December 16, 2016 (a time stamp appears in the bottom-left corner), Aboah and Malik can be seen walking around an apartment with Hadid filming a BTS video on her phone, camera in hand. Somewhere, we're sure that Mario Testino is beaming with pride.
UPDATE, Fri., Mar. 3, 5:14 p.m.: Malik took to Twitter to share an image tagged #VersusUncensored, presumably from the campaign. Nicely done, Gigi!
UPDATE, Wed., Mar. 8: The official pics are in! According to a release, the images were photographed in a suite at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, using only iPhones and digital cameras. "The Versus campaign captures everything that is special about Zayn, Gigi and Adwoa," said Donatella Versace. "They are young people who define the mood of their generation with their honesty, energy and their love." Check out all the campaign images in the gallery below.
