Los Angeles is home to a treasure trove of young designers quietly and meticulously whipping up perfect wardrobe staples for a niche clientele. One example is Lily Ashwell (daughter of Rachel), who creates the dreamiest vintage-inspired, silk bias-cut dresses and skirts in Venice, California, where she also opened an adorable boutique nearly two years ago.
Ashwell recently went direct-to-consumer, allowing her to bring down the price of her wares, which are all made in Downtown LA. I stopped by her store earlier this week and couldn't help but try on a dress. The fit was magical, and the silhouette was one I could see easily transitioning from day to night, but it was the price (for the quality) that convinced me to pull the trigger.
It's a little longer on me than it is on this model, but I could see myself wearing it to everything from a casual brunch with flat sandals to a wedding with heels.
Lily Ashwell Sophia dress, $265, available at Lily Ashwell.
