Here's something not so shocking: The messy hair trend is still going strong. You've probably realized this if you've scrolled through your Instagram feed lately — or kept up with any of the Fall 2017 runway shows. Pretty, gritty texture could be found at Alexander Wang, Adam Selman, Cushnie et Ochs, Coach and Rosie Assoulin, among others. And given that the undone look is far easier to achieve than a polished, perfect blowout, we're in full support. The fastest way to get a mussed effect? Texture spray.

As a concept, texture sprays aren't new. But the latest crop of formulas have come a long way from the drying, sticky ones you probably stocked up on a few years back. The easiest way to use one is to mist it over dry hair and then tousle with your fingers for an instant (and blessedly simple) rumpled effect. Unlike dry shampoo, texture spray is usually completely translucent, so you won't need to worry about brushing out any white residue.

Texture sprays have also blown up in recent years due to their amazing versatility; they're suitable for almost all hair types — straight, wavy, curly. Plus, they can accomplish a lot, lending hold, boosting flattened styles or separating ends for an edgy, piece-y look.
