Acne. Breakouts. Pimples. Not exactly the sexiest topic of conversation when it comes to skin care, but then again, we have yet to meet someone who hasn't dealt with their fair share of pesky blemishes either as a teen or in their adult years. And when it comes to fending off acne breakouts, there's a lot of stuff out there that can help save your skin.

If you've ever read the ingredients label of any acne-fighting product, you're likely already familiar with common actives like salicylic acid (and lactic, alpha- and beta-hydroxy acids) plus benzoyl peroxide and sulfur. On a very basic level, pimples are small-scale infections that live on the surface of your skin and are caused by bacteria called p.acnes. The way these OTC products work is either by killing the bacteria on your skin (as is the case with benzoyl peroxide) or by gently removing — a.k.a exfoliating — the outer layer of skin, which happens when you use anything with salicylic, AHA or BHA as an active ingredient.

With the help of Amazon Beauty, we've compiled the eleven current best-selling acne-fighting cleansers, exfoliators and spot treatments on the site. (Oh, and if you're wondering which beauty products topped Amazon's list in 2016, you can find that out here.)
