As much as I read about the benefits of wearing bodysuits — they're perfect for layering; they stay put; no more suddenly-untucked tops! — I never really bothered to jump on the trend bandwagon. For no true rhyme or reason, I seem to always prefer the comfort of a T-shirt or breezy blouse rather than a form-fitting top. Plus, I have the habit of double-checking that my fly is zipped, so now I have to make sure my bodysuit is snapped in place, too?
That's just lazy reasoning, I know, but I've finally decided to give this trend a try for the summer. It's taken some convincing, mostly from Mickey, played by Gillian Jacobs on Netflix's "Love." Her red bodysuit-slash-swimsuit and jeans outfit was so memorable, I find myself browsing bodysuits on the reg whenever I'm in an online shopping hole. (By the way, this isn't the first time Mickey's style has inspired an Editors' Pick either.)
I'll give this new type of top a go with a version from & Other Stories, which was just released as part of the label's Los Angeles collection. I love its wrap-like fit, low neckline and shirring at the shoulder, making it a little more timeless than the usual on-trend details I see on most bodysuits. And I'll likely pair these with my high-waisted Levi's and slides — just like Mickey.
