I'm a big believer in exfoliation. And after years of carefully honing my face and body exfoliating routines (this liquid followed by this peel; this scrubby mitt, respectively), I've also finally figured out how to scrub and slough an often neglected area: the scalp. Trust me when I say that Christophe Robin's Cleansing Purifying Scrub With Sea Salt changed everything about my hair-care routine.
The thick, gritty paste smells pleasantly zingy and citrusy, so combined with its satisfyingly scrubby texture, it has made my morning showers infinitely more energizing. It takes the place of shampoo in my routine the days I use it (typically once a week). I begin by wetting my hair ever-so-slightly, then go in with about a teaspoon of this product, massaging it into my scalp. As the water hits it, the grit dissolves into a rich, sudsy lather similar to any other shampoo, then rinsing out cleanly. And when I say cleanly, I mean cleanly. See, in addition to de-flaking and buffing the scalp, it also deep cleans hair so well that it's literally squeaky when you rinse it out.
For fine, oily types like myself, it's a game changer. Starting from super-clean, completely buildup-free hair means I can eke out an extra day between shampoos without having to pile on even more dry shampoo than I already do. I'll take it.
