I am not much of a sweats person. Most of my growing-up years were spent in a city far too warm for sweats on a practical level, and when I finally did move to a cooler climate, the dressed-down garments just didn't hold that much appeal for me. Even today, when athleisure is as accepted as can be, I still feel off wearing exercise leggings out of the house unless I know I'm headed to yoga at some point.
This sweatshirt from Collina Strada, an environmentally conscious indie brand beloved by Instagram cool girls like Reese Blutstein, is one I might actually enjoy wearing somewhere other than the gym. I recently borrowed the sweatshirt from a friend who owns a version of it and found myself falling for the locally made piece. With its deconstructed hems, oddly placed grommets and intentionally inside-out construction, the sweatshirt feels just design-conscious enough that wearing it still feels like "dressing up," even as the super-soft fabric and easy-to-wear shape keep it comfy and casual. I might just have to spring for one of these myself.
Collina Strada Grommeted sweatshirt, $185, available at Need Supply Co.
