On Tuesday night at the launch of Gucci Bloom, I managed to stay cool about this, but I can do so no longer: I was in the real-life presence of Dakota Johnson while she was wearing a head-to-toe Gucci look. MOM!
Now that I finally got that out of my system, let's continue. Johnson is one of the faces of Gucci Bloom, Alessandro Michele's first fragrance for the brand, which was fêted with a garden party at MoMA PS1. She's been a longtime fan of the Italian label, wearing it for a number of occasions to great effect, notably including Monday night at the Met Gala (where she was indisputably best dressed, please do not @ me). But while all that partying might have had other celebs holed up in their hotels clutching bottles of coconut water and aspirin, Johnson showed up looking like a god damn Gucci dream.
Her midi-length floral dress definitely fits the theme, but because it's all leafy-greens and tree branches, it doesn't feel remotely twee. The pearl button at collar, touches of lace and sparkly belt are all details that make this dress more interesting than your standard shirtdress, and finishing it up with strappy yellow sandals is a fun, unexpected touch.
She finishes the look with the same dark manicure she wore to the Met (stars! they're just like us! too hungover to change nail polish!), wavy hair, and the kind of perfect rosy lipstick color I have spent years trying (and failing) to find. In other words, another perfect Dakota Johnson joint to add to my style vision board. #blessed
