Now that The Metropolitan Museum of Art has kicked off its spring Costume Institute exhibition, "Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between," with the Met Gala on Monday night, The Met Store has announced a new retail concept called The Met x CDG Pocket Shop to fulfill our #merch needs.
The shopping destination will offer 11 exclusive Comme des Garçons products, including a "lace" (read: holes) sweater inspired by the designer's Fall 1982 collection, a staff coat, two tote bags, a set of enamel pins, two wallets (in gold and black) and three graphic T-shirts, which play on logo design and feature the brand's signature polka dots. The Met Store will also sell footwear for the first time — specifically, a Nike Air Pegasus 83 sneaker designed in collaboration with Comme des Garçons. The black, suede low-top features a black leather swoosh and the "CDG" logo in gold on the heel. More exclusive Comme des Garçons pieces will be released throughout the exhibition's run until Sept. 4.
The Met x CDG Pocket Shop will also have more than 100 pieces of apparel, footwear and fragrance from the brand's sub-labels, including Comme des Garçons Play, Parfum, Wallet and Converse. All products will be available starting Tuesday, May 2, at The Met Store, along with select pieces up for purchase online.
