Beauty tutorials are big on YouTube — a search for "makeup tutorial" and "hair tutorial" yields more than five million videos. In this weekly series, we put a mix of popular and under-the-radar tutorials to the test and show you what's best.

It's the official start of summer and a long weekend! YAY! Maybe you're celebrating that by going on a vacation to a far-flung destination, or maybe you'll just be camped out in your bed catching up on some much needed chill time and Netflix. (Might I suggest the second season of "Master of None," if you still somehow haven't gotten around to it?) If you're planning on the latter, this weekend is also the perfect opportunity to experiment with DIY nail art

With that in mind, I found this Youtube tutorial from HannaRoxNails for a chic, minimalist design that actually seems fairly easy for an amateur to pull off. Specifically, it's a negative-space, color-blocked look with a silver stripe going across the middle. What's not to like? Plus, an added benefit to leaving negative-space at the base of the nail — other than the fact that it just plain looks cool — is that you won't notice any weird gaps between the design and your cuticle as your nails grow. That means you can eke out a few extra days from the manicure you just so expertly created.
