There is perhaps no spectacle in fashion today bigger than the collaboration between supermodel Gigi Hadid and Tommy Hilfiger: For the Tommy x Gigi debut in September 2016, the brand took over a pier in New York City, turning it into a full-on carnival. Somehow, they managed to up the ante in February for Hadid's second collection, flying influencers and models to Los Angeles via "#AirTommy" and taking over Venice Beach for a mini-festival, complete with a live performance from Fergie.

Well, fashion folk, gird your loins: On Wednesday morning, WWD reported that the Tommy x Gigi lovefest will continue on for two more seasons. "Gigi is a force in the fashion industry and the ultimate Tommy Girl," Hilfiger told the trade. "I have loved designing the Tommy x Gigi collections with her, and I look forward to continuing our partnership for another year." Hilfiger CEO says the Tommy x Gigi collaboration and the "see now, buy now" sales model "are driving strong momentum" behind Hilfiger's brand, resulting in "double-digit" sales growth and a "halo effect" across all categories.

Their relationship has not been smooth, however: Last fall, Hilfiger told Joe Zee that when he first cast Hadid, she wasn't "quite as thin" as the other girls so she was styled in a poncho on the runway. Hilfiger released a statement that Hadid "is truly the definition of a 'Tommy Girl'" and that he was "extremely proud" to have her as a collaborator. On her part, Hadid handled the issue gracefully, telling "Access Hollywood" that she knew Hilfiger's comments were taken out of context. "I know that the point of that story was that Tommy was rooting for me, and that regardless of what the stylist of that season said or what he put me in, Tommy wanted me in the show...Tommy was pushing for me and Tommy loved my curves," she said.

How Hilfiger and Hadid will manage to one-up the first two presentations isn't clear, but considering that outer space is currently trending, perhaps we should be readying our space suits? We're betting Hilfiger could find a rocket for sale....

We have reached out to Tommy Hilfiger and will update this post with any further information.
