These Earrings Are a Utilitarian's Nightmare, and Whitney's into That

You can't spell "function" without "fun," right?

I like practical fashion: I tend to favor sneakers over heels, comfortable T-shirt dresses over sexy body-hugging ones and garments that easily match what's already in my closet over ones that don't match anything. But there's also a part of me that rebels against fashion that's too much function and too little form. After all, there's a reason no one "falls in love" with an athletic sock the way they do with a designer dress, right?

When it comes to delightfully impractical, this-is-clearly-just-for-the-joy-of-it fashion, you can't do much better than these earrings by Wild and Woolly. Earrings are inherently decorative rather than practical in the first place, of course, but something about the absurdity of furry, brightly colored hoops in warm weather appeals to me. On days when I'm feeling jaded about the whole enterprise that is capital-F-Fashion, wearing these would be a favorable alternative to sticking a post-it note on my forehead that says "FASHION IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN."
