Céline Dion may be best known for her voice, but it seems that, actually, her talents go on... and on.
The Grammy- and Oscar-winning Canadienne chanteuse has partnered with Nordstrom to debut her new line of "lifestyle" products, to be released in stores and online in August. The Montreal-based Bugatti Group produced the collection.
Dion first previewed the line — which includes about 100 handbags, small accessories and luggage, and will eventually expand into jewelry, shoes and clothing for women and kids — at the Project Womens trade show in Las Vegas this past February. At that time, WWD described the Céline Dion Collection as a "functional, practical and chic collection crafted in a mix of leathers and suedes."
Prices range from $58 to $298, with luggage costing up to $478 — just a hair less than that other label lucky enough to share part of its name with the CDC.
"I'm excited at this opportunity to launch my collection with Nordstrom," Dion said in a statement. "My collection is all about affordable luxury, and we’ve created beautiful designs with excellent quality, and I can’t wait for everyone to discover all of this at Nordstrom."
Nordstrom's executive VP Gemma Lionello played it cool, saying simply, "We are always interested in bringing new and exciting product to our customers. We appreciate this opportunity to partner with Céline Dion to launch her handbag collection in our stores and online." Oh come on, Gemma — everyone knows "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" is your karaoke go-to.
Of course, if you're asking yourself, 'How will this line of affordable, celeb-designed handbags differ from any other line of affordable, celeb-designed handbags?' Here's the kicker: In order to give the pieces that special touch of Céline-je-ne-sais-quoi, each bag is lined with markings representing the sound waves of Dion's three-octave soprano vocal range. I KNOW.
In other words, the Céline Dion Collection will likely be the best collection of accessible accessories in the world. And that's... the way it is.
