Erin Parsons, Gigi Hadid's personal makeup artist who's created the model's red carpet, campaign and editorial looks for several years, has just been named global makeup artist for Maybelline. Given that the model has been a face of the brand since 2015, Parsons had previously helmed plenty of Maybelline shoots involving Hadid, but now she's been tapped by the brand in a more official leadership capacity, reports WWD.
In the role, Parsons will have a creative presence with a variety of aspects of the brand; she'll oversee the makeup looks for Maybelline-sponsored shows at New York Fashion Week, as well as in any campaigns and marketing materials for the company.
Parsons, who is originally from Cleveland, Ohio, began her career in beauty working at makeup counters, but eventually went on to assist Pat McGrath. Having learned from the best in the business, Parsons is also known for innovation and experimentation, often turning to unexpected color and texture combinations in her work.
Though Parsons recognizes the importance of commercial appeal with a mass brand such as Maybelline, she's also hoping to bring her own unique and artful perspective to the brand with her new position. "I really want to take Maybelline to a whole other place — they're killing it with the products, but I want to give [the artistry] that extra 'oomph,'" she said an in interview with WWD. With that in mind, she hopes to also have a hand in product development.
