Usually when the warm weather kicks in, I'd be swapping my boots for sandals and a pedicure, but over the past few summers, I've found myself wearing sneakers more than a pair of open-toed shoes. (I still book the pedicure, by the way.) One year, I wore my Nike Air Max Thea shoes until they started to fall apart. The same goes for a pair of Sandro low-top sneakers covered in silver studs that I got from a sample sale. I even splurged on a pair of Isabel Marant Bobby sneakers, which I loved so very much, and I'm patiently waiting for the day when/if wedge sneakers will ever be a thing again.
Anyway, we've reached Summer 2017 and I just bought myself a pair of fresh kicks: the Nike Air Presto. Because I work close to both Supreme and Kith, I've seen this shoe on nearly every sneakerhead who's traipsed through Soho. Over time, the style grew on me, and I finally stopped into a store to check it out for myself. I was instantly sold on this shoe for a number of reasons: It's super lightweight, comfortable and perfectly accented with a gum bottom. When it comes to sneakers, I'm a huge sucker for a gum sole.
The sneaker is also very minimal in style, so it'll never clash with anything I wear. As I write this, I'm wearing my Prestos with a T-shirt and a leather skirt. Previously, I paired it with a mid-length dress, and, of course, every jeans-and-top combo under the sun. If you happen to be in Soho this summer and spot a girl with these exact sneakers, chances are it'll be me. Hi!
