In the seven months since Coach announced that Selena Gomez had come on board as an ambassador with a $10-million (!) contract, the pop star has already made good on her partnership with the brand. May, for starters, was a great month for both parties: She attended the Met Gala as Creative Director Stuart Vevers's date — though she hit the red carpet with her boyfriend that she really wants you to know she has, The Weeknd — and helped the house garner the most mentions from the event of any of its competitors on Instagram. Gomez is the social media platform's most-followed person, after all, so as her own forthcoming line for Coach remains in development, we can rest assured that the house will continue to utilize her clout as much as possible.
Enter Coach's road trip-themed Fall 2017 campaign, which stars Gomez posing in the blush-toned leather interior of a 1976 Plymouth Fury. The ads employ a dream team of creatives: The images were shot by Steven Meisel, styled by Karl Templer and creative directed by Fabien Baron, with makeup by Pat McGrath and hair by Guido Palau.
"From the very beginning, the creation of Coach campaigns have been an exciting and collaborative effort," said Meisel in a press release. "It's been a pleasure working with Stuart and the team of incredibly talented individuals behind the brand. Inviting Selena Gomez to join the Coach family takes it to another level."
In addition to the print campaigns, Coach will also debut three short films devoted to its three key bags for Fall 2017 — the Rogue, the Coach Swagger and the Edie. The clips portray Gomez "getting ready in a New York City apartment for a night on the town."
If you need any further indication that Coach is, in fact, well on its way to becoming New York City's coolest fashion brand, look no further than this campaign's list of collaborators; Gomez may bring the Instagram engagement, but the combination of Meisel, Templer, Baron, McGrath and Palau indicates something bigger entirely.
