Zendaya may still technically be a Disney star — she's not done filming "K.C. Undercover," her hit show for the channel, even as she adds feature films like "Spider-Man: Homecoming" to her roster — but the combination of her consistent red carpet prowess and her outspokenness about important social issues has made her so much more. Now, the 20-year-old star has landed her first American Vogue cover, proving that the fashion establishment has thoroughly claimed her as one of its own.

On the cover and in the accompanying editorial images shot by Mario Testino, Zendaya wears a lot of feathers and walks the line between sexy-serious and jumping-in-the-air joy. Her ability to transform into a range of characters based on what she's wearing — something that's turned out to be a significant red carpet strength, as exhibited by everything from her David Bowie look at the Grammys in 2016 to her "dreadlocks goddess" moment at the Academy Awards in 2015 — was also played up by Vogue. The publication released a video of the star displaying fashion and beauty as it has looked through the ages to accompany the cover.

In the interview, Zendaya opens up about a wide range of topics, including her relationship with stylist Law Roach (whom she loves to do impressions of) and how her own agency led to her becoming a producer on the Disney show in which she stars ("I have so many friends who say yes to everything or feel like they can't stand up for themselves in a situation... No: You have the power"). She also touches on growing up around Black Panthers in Oakland, saying: "My aunties were Black Panthers. Afros, the whole nine."
