An In-Flight, Skin-Saving Beauty Routine to Try Next Time You Travel

Protect yourself against dehydration, dryness and all that (shudder) recycled air.

Beauty tutorials are big on YouTube — a search for "makeup tutorial" and "hair tutorial" yields more than five million videos. In this weekly series, we put a mix of popular and under-the-radar tutorials to the test and show you what's best.

Travel, especially during the summer months, can completely mess with your skin. Whether it's spending hours getting to an overseas destination in that stale, recycled airplane air or having to rely on non-ideal mini products you're not used to, there's plenty of potential for dryness, breakouts and all-around ickiness. That's why this super-simple in-flight travel routine from beauty blogger Tamira Jarrel is so clutch.

In the video, she talks through every step of her in-flight beauty ritual, which includes de-germing her surroundings, cleansing and plenty of hydrating. Part of what makes the whole tutorial such a delight to watch is also Jarrel herself, who says that half the battle is getting over doing these self-care rituals in public. "I just don't give a shit. I will wear a face mask in public, I will do anything, I don't care. I will do karaoke sober. That's how much I don't care," she says.

Watch the full video below to see all of her genius travel tips — like how to make your own portable cleansing wipes with your favorite cotton pads and micellar water — for a less stressful travel season full of good skin.
