I realize that 2016 basically killed the choker. But I still want one. Hear me out: It's arguably the least Instagirl choker possible. First, it's subtle. The thin gold chain is a minimalist dream — it's even called the "sweet nothing" choker. I'm not a big necklace-wearer in general, but I could see this simple piece being the perfect starting point for layering with other dainty chains, though it looks equally cool all on its own.
It's from my favorite Brooklyn-based jewelry shop Catbird, meaning it's made right here in the good ol' U.S. of A. (happy Fourth of July/Made in America week!). I also love that Catbird donates a portion of its sales to amazing organizations like the ACLU, Citizen's Climate Lobby, Girl Up and Planned Parenthood. Shopping at a local, small, philanthropic, American business seems like the perfect way to celebrate the birth of the USA to me. HBD, America!
Catbird "Sweet Nothing" choker, $154, available at Catbird.
