If given the option to swap closets with Zendaya or join Fashionista as an editorial assistant, I would undoubtedly choose the latter. Despite my obsession with all of her red carpet moments, this is my dream job! Allow me to introduce myself.
The basics: I was born and raised in Austin, Texas, surrounded by Whole Foods enthusiasts and early fans of athleisure. I stayed in my southern bubble for college, where I curated a sizable burnt orange-hued closet and studied Sociology and English on the side. I've always had an obsession with magazines — I've never met a wall I didn’t feel the need to plaster with collages from Vogue. So I jumped at the opportunity to spend my summers falling in love with — and steaming — Balenciaga's latest runway stars at Marie Claire and Elle.
I officially moved to New York last June to attend a crash course in all aspects of book, magazine and digital publishing at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. Post-publishing boot camp, I freelanced at Elle, building racks in under 30 seconds and immersing myself in all the lovely lace and wedgie-fit styles that the denim and lingerie markets have to offer.
I fill my free time with a lot of cyber sale hunting, crafting (I specialize in oversize dream catchers) and scouting out places for afternoon tea. My other favorite things include: throw pillows, crossword puzzles and my two Vizsla pups — I'm about as Downton Abbey as it gets.
Feel free to follow me on Instagram at @daraprant, and thank you for the warm Fashionista welcome!
