Back in October, we wrote a lot of words about how 2017 was set to be a launching pad for the rest of Harry Styles's career. Seven months in, we can officially say: so far, so good! Dude released an album (which is already getting Grammy buzz), landed a late-night talk show residency, performed on "SNL," defended teen girls in his Rolling Stone cover story, announced a world tour and walked on water. But let's not forget about his film "Dunkirk," the clandestine Christopher Nolan project for which he cut his hair last year and for which Nolan compared Styles's performance to Heath Ledger's in Nolan's "The Dark Night." With "Dunkirk" due out July 19, the movie has officially commenced its press tour — which means! We have grade-A fashion on the way, and we'll be updating this post as the red carpet premiere circuit continues.
Thursday, July 13: "Dunkirk" world premiere in London
To kick off official festivities, Styles showed up to London's Odeon Leicester Square in a custom Gucci dark blue-green wool mohair double-breasted suit — no tie, with a white shirt unbuttoned. This is an understated departure from the bubblegum (or, depending on who you ask, "appetite-suppressing") pink and embroidery we've grown used to seeing him inhabit. But waiiiiitttt, check out his shoes — also Gucci, from the house's Cruise 2018 collection — which feature lizard detail and embroidered dragon appliqué.
This also happened!
Not a bad way to get things started, huh?
Sunday, July 16: "Dunkirk" premiere in Dunkerque, France
Before heading across the pond for "Dunkirk"'s U.S. press junket, the team fêted the film on Sunday in Dunkerque, France — the site of the Battle of Dunkirk, on which the movie is based. This time, Styles traded in Gucci for slate grey Prada, from the house's Spring 2018 menswear collection, with a black shirt worn unbuttoned. (We're sad to report, though, that no dragon boots were in attendance.)
Tuesday, July 18: "Dunkirk" premiere in New York City
Styles fittingly chose a very New York brand for the New York premiere of the film. At Tuesday night's event, he wore a Pre-Spring 2018 Calvin Klein 205W39NYC black wool peak lapel tuxedo jacket, embroidered marching band pant and black dress shirt designed by Raf Simons.
Watch this space as the press tour continues.
