You know back in the early 2000s, when everyone would douse themselves in sunless tanner, slick on a thick layer of tar-like lip gloss and then top it off with a hefty dusting of bronzer? That was the main association I had with bronzer for much of my life, which is probably why I've largely avoided it for the better part of the last decade. And then I received this new Nars bronzer in a mailing from the brand, tested a little on my hand (as beauty editors are wont to do), and became immediately hooked. Not only is it blessedly un-glittery (I'm talking zero shimmer or sparkle, which I firmly believe should be reserved only for highlighters and eye shadows), but it's not at all orange and in fact goes on very sheer, leaving a hazy tint that warms up my whole complexion.
The matte, super-fine powder makes the pigment highly blendable, so it seems to really disappear on skin, making it easy to subtly sculpt and enhance the contours of my face (emphasis on subtle!). In short: Thanks to this product, I'm officially back to being pro-bronzer.
Nars Sun Wash Diffusing Bronzer in Falaises, $40, available at Sephora.
