Tracee Ellis Ross Aces the Covered-Up Summer Aesthetic

And impressively manages not to sweat her face off in the process.

We are just a few days away from summer solstice, which means it is officially the height of summer — and summer dressing. To a lot of people that means showing more skin, but Tracee Ellis Ross took the opportunity last night to show how to achieve a peak summer aesthetic while staying covered up.

Ross attended a dinner for secondhand luxury e-tailer Vestiaire Collective in a vintage Yves Saint Laurent dress from Vestiaire, brown leather belt and pink boots. With its puffy sleeves, high neckline and full skirt, the dress was quite modest in shape and would've been appropriate for a church or synagogue visit. But the bright sherbert-y yellows, oranges and pinks of the outfit — and the casual off-the-shoulder slippage that happened at some point in the evening — kept things feeling appropriately summery and just the right amount of flirty.

The dinner was hosted by celeb stylist Karla Welch, who also wore YSL from Vestiaire's vintage collection and stayed similarly covered-up despite summer temps, showing just a bit of belly button in a long-sleeved top and jeans. Looks like they can both add "not sweating too much while wearing lots of clothing in warm weather" to their respective lists of impressive feats.
