Immediately after Alexa Chung launched her eponymous fashion line, Alexachung, in May, it became evident that I would need all of it and yet, be unable to afford any of it, also known as life as a fashion writer. There were some pieces, like this $1,365 pink and burgundy striped suit and this $785 tiered floral dress, over which I resigned myself to sustained lust, and others, like this Saturn ring, I found to be a bit more attainable. Conveniently, I love space almost as much as I love Chung herself.

I first discovered this piece via the label's Instagram, @alexachungstagram.

For the number of rings I own and wear regularly, I've never once had a proper sovereign ring, which feels like a bit of a shame. Though where more traditional sovereign rings display some form of stuffy insignia like a crest or a monogram, this one has a a brilliant blue planetary scape laid over its silver plating. I also love the idea of wearing it on my middle finger; it's a nice way of telling someone horrible you find yourself flipping off to get lost, way lost, like board the Chanel rocket and orbit one of Saturn's 62 moons for the rest of time lost.
