Designer owned and operated fine jewelry store that champions independent designers + handmade pieces. Our in-house line, Sophie Hughes, is designed and made in our studio, lofted above the shop, while our featured designers are hand chosen for their aesthetic and level of craft. The focus of both our shop + brand is to remain ethical and environmentally conscious through the use of 100% recycled metals and antique stones. In addition to our made-in-house ready-to-wear line and our curated selection of designers, we also offer custom wedding, engagement and everyday jewelry.
Sales: This role is client facing, first and foremost. You will facilitate the sale of handmade independently designed fine jewelry, from engagement rings down to everyday hoops. Industry background not required, though jewelry making or jewelry sales background is appreciated. We can teach you what you need to know about WHAT you are selling, but we need you to know HOW to sell it. Experience in the service industry, boutique retail, or sales is necessary along with an engaging, attentive and motivated demeanor.
Communication: An exceptional communicator - both written + verbal - who has an excellent command of language and is energized by people. A vibrant personality who is able to read client needs/cues, meet them on their frequency and get them excited about what we do all while being informative and knowledgeable about our pieces, our processes and our materials. On the back end, clear and concise communication is essential for managing our clients’ custom projects/orders, meeting deadlines and communicating client needs to our creative director and studio team.
Relationship building: Ideal candidate is hyper-focused on forging genuine human connections + relationships with both current and potential clients to drive growth and retain our base. Candidate should be able to read clients’ tastes to better curate a fluid shopping experience and effectively guide them towards the perfect piece. Our sales associates should be warm, engaging, authentic and intentional in their approach.
Workflow: Our store and brand is artist owned, and run by creatives. Our desired candidate will be completely comfortable in a fluid, spontaneous and often experimental environment. We are searching for someone who doesn’t require constant structure to thrive in their position. While we welcome applicants who don’t have a creative background, we prefer that our candidates be completely capable of working alongside us in that manner.
Head, Heart + Soul: Outgoing, clever and a natural with people, with an appreciation for handmade goods and independent brands. You have a positive and collaborative attitude, excitement about jewelry and an astonishing ability to multi-task. We are seeking someone who possesses a sharp memory for faces, conversations and details.
Your Superpower: In part, this role can also be tailored to the strengths of the candidate so if you have a superpower, WE WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT! Are you a marketing guru? Maybe you have experience writing copy, or maybe you’re a killer event planner! We want to hear about ways you feel you can actively contribute to the growth of the business.
Compensation + Scheduling: This will start as an hourly, part-time position (24-32 hours/week) that has the potential to grow into a full-time position for the right candidate. Tuesday - Saturday work week availability is a must. Closed Christmas day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, but full-time availability throughout the holiday season is strongly prefered. Compensation commensurate with experience.
