Brights and stripes and fanny packs, oh my!

Spring 2018 is coming at us fast. With London Fashion Week just around the corner, it's time to take a look at what New York designers are saying for spring. Interested in taking a look at the forecast for next season? Just scroll on through for eight major trends that were all over the NYFW runways..

As Pantone predicted, bright highlighter yellow was a big trend in New York. Get your sunglasses ready.

An extension of the Resort 2018 trend, vertical stripes are going to be elongating silhouettes for a little bit longer, thanks to the spring collections.

Fanny Packs

We knew that as soon as we saw Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner carrying them — sometimes slung over the shoulder or worn cross-body — fanny packs were probably going to catch on. Funny how these things work...

Suit Jackets and Shorts

Consistent trend barometer Rihanna has made many an exit wearing a suit jacket sans pants, but then, she can pull off just about anything. Paired with shorts, this is an easy one to copy — and little bit more work-appropriate.

Trains

This one is neither for the light-hearted, nor the light-footed — you'd better make sure that this train billows out in a runway-ready walk on the street.

All Tied Up

The '90s have been back for the past few seasons, and with it comes the classic shirt tied around the waist. Some designers decided to forgo the extra garment entirely with sleeves pre-attached, making for a chic optical illusion.

Fringe

We're not saying that you need to carry a comb with you when testing the over-the-top fringe trend for spring, but... actually, yes. You should probably bring a comb.

All White Everything

Resort's monochrome has been repurposed into a solid whiteout on the runways. This is a uniform only for the bravest of the brave — just make sure you carry a Tide pen at all times.
