Tropical Prints Are the New Florals For Spring 2018

We know, we know — "florals for spring" again, blah blah blah. But come next season, the go-to motif will channel the tropics rather than what you'd normally find at your local flower shop. In New York, a slew of designers emblazoned their garments with hibiscus flowers and palm leaves, including Fenty PumaBaja East, Michael Kors and Coach. Label to watch Vaquera even took their inspiration a step further by printing a parody surf shop logo on a T-shirt.

In Milan, tropical prints are picking up steam, too. At Gucci, we saw the vacation-ready look on the runway, followed by prints of a similar aesthetic at No. 21 as well. Sure, you could wait six months until these designer pieces hit the sales floor, but this up-and-coming trend is already easily attainable at your nearest surf shop. (Landlocked states, you'll have to surf the internet instead. Heh.) 

Will surf culture likely replace fashion's fascination with skate culture? According to the latest collections for Spring 2018, it very well could.
