I like to think of perfume as an enhancement of myself, so I take the process of finding one to wear very seriously. I've tried different scents here and there, but the one with which I've had the most lasting relationship is without a doubt Atelier Cologne's Vanilla Insensée. Its sweet vanilla base is accented by a hit of floral jasmine, and balanced with spicy coriander, wood and oak moss notes.
Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I stumbled upon it in an antique-looking fragrance shop nestled in a quaint Parisian neighborhood during my studies abroad, so the smell always takes me back to my wandering French baguette days. Or maybe it's just that my nose finds solace in its subtle, vanilla-wrapped sweetness. Either way, I always return to it, and it has easily become my most signature scent.
Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensée, $85, available at Sephora.
