I'm not one of those more-is-more makeup wearers, which means I typically like my highlighter to be slightly less popping. I prefer subtlety. So, for the most part, I gravitate toward cream highlighter formulas because I find that they tend to blend easily and have a dewy, skin-like finish. But the downside of creams is that they can wear off more rapidly than their powder counterparts. So when I came across this powder-cream hybrid from ColourPop in a mailing from the brand, I was intrigued.

It looks like any old powder in the pan, but press into it, and it's surprisingly bouncy and plush. That means you can easily pick up lots of pigment (whether you're using a brush or your finger, my preferred application tool). On skin, the product takes on a super-blendable, velvety and cream-like texture, giving off all of the subtly dewy, glimmery (not sparkly!) highlight of a straight cream formula — but with the staying power of a powder.

For those craving a bit more intensity, it also layers well, so you can easily build up to a more intense, noticeable strobing effect. Add to all that the fact that it costs only $8, and this ranks as one of my favorite product discoveries in quite a while.
