It only took about three weeks after the official start of fall for it to finally feel like fall. That crisp, chill air is like a little boost of energy when I step outside and it's even better when I'm wearing my favorite leather jacket or plaid blazer. But there's been a bit of delay in actually experiencing that cool fall feeling because of New York's recent bout of warm weather — and I'm freakin' tired of it. (Over the weekend, I was comfortably outdoors for up to six hours wearing only a tank top and jeans. Climate change is real!)
Adding to my frustration is a piece of outerwear that I just acquired by an Australian brand called I Am Gia, which I discovered via singer Andrea Valle's Instagram. (Peep my interview with her here.) The label's offerings are very much on-trend (think crop tops, track pants and loads of patent leather) and have attracted a slew of Instafamous fans in addition to Valle. After browsing through I Am Gia's online shop, I was immediately drawn to the Pixie Coat, a cozy camel-colored fleece zip-up with an oversize, slouchy silhouette. Were I to make a list of requirements for my fall wardrobe, this jacket would fill in all of the boxes.
But ever since the jacket arrived, I've had it hanging in my closet, patiently awaiting its official entrance into society. Once the weather hits a fall-friendly high of 50-to-60 degrees, you know I'll be throwing this fuzzy bad boy on ASAP.
I Am Gia Pixie Coat, $86, available at iamgia.com.
