It's festive and, yet, refined.

It may only be Halloween, but that doesn't mean it's too early to start thinking about holiday shopping and accordingly, holiday party dresses. In fact, after seeing Kathryn Hahn's look from Monday's premiere of "A Bad Moms Christmas," it's top of mind for us. The actress chose a two-piece look by Alberta Ferretti: a deep aubergine top adorned with lace trim and ribbon bows, complete with a black maxi skirt, both in a cushy velvet fabric.

Ribbon, velvet and lace — that's about as festive as it gets. And while those embellishments meant that, in theory, this look had the potential to be over-the-top and costume-y, in practice it was in fact quite refined and elegant. Hahn has generally been stepping up her red-carpet dressing lately — surely thanks in large part to stylist Karla Welch — and often favoring black-and-white ensembles or unexpected prints and pairings, like dresses over pants. She also accessorized her vintage strapless Courrèges Emmys dress with a blue ribbon to show her support for the ACLU, arguably one of the best fashion choices a celebrity can make right now.
